Flat-broke in free agency

The Ravens haven't done anything in free agency, and even though Ozzie has said they'll eventually fill holes here and there once the market settles, don't expect too much noise.

The Ravens are only about $3 million under the cap. That sounds like a lot of money, but by NFL standards it doesn't get you very much. From a personnel standpoint it will get you just about zero. They'd be better of using that money for the post-game buffets. Crab cakes and beer sounds nice.

The draft is less than two months away. The more I've been reading about Matt Ryan, the less I consider vomiting over the prospect of the Ravens snagging him with the eighth pick. Don't misread me now. That's not an endorsement for Matt Ryan. I'm just saying I no longer feel nauseous. I still don't want the guy. And God help me if we end up with Brian Brohm. Either of those moves could signal the end of the road for Troy Smith, which isn't fair considering how well he played last year.

I reserve the right to change my opinions wholesale should McNair do us all himself a favor and retire.

"And God help me if we end up with Matt Brohm." Yeah, Matt Brohm would be a disaster. But maybe Brian Brohm who plays for Louisville would be OK.

Typo fixed. Thanks for catching that.

I don't think Matt Ryan will be there, but I would certainly vomit over Brian Brohm. You guys need a DB, and those crab cakes and beer sound terrific.

I would love to pick up Matt Ryan with #8 overall, I think what makes him different from other college QB prospects is that his receivers, running backs, and Oline was just terrible. Maybe he never faced the best competition, but he never had much to work with either. As you hinted, drafting Matt Ryan is not the end of the road for Troy Smith necessarily. Steve McNair might be the last man out. More likely, Kyle Boller gets the cut. Wait until after the draft when some team wakes up and realizes their backup QB plan is garbage. Boller could even net us a low (very low) draft pick, and save us a little cap space. Admittedly he wouldn't save us as much as Steve would.

Why would Troy Smith be out the door Kyle Boller seems that he would be the odd man out the door. Its over for Mr. Boller we know what he can and can not do Its time to move on I am personally tired of hearing about Kyle Boller NEXT.Mcnair,Smith, and a draft pick SHOULD be your QB's next year.I think that you are wrong Derek Anderson made them learn there lesson I do not think that they will roll Smith out off the door when he Is young and has done nothing to be pushed out. Boller Is a different subject and Brian Is no longer the coach.
