Yardbarker, Beast Mode and B'more

Last week I met Marshawn Lynch. When he found out that my name is Dewey and that I'm from Baltimore, he got pretty excited. Turns out he's a huge fan of The Wire and his cousin's name is Dewey. Then again, everything seems to excite Marshawn. He's a happy dude.

Here are a few videos that Marshawn and I recorded for the Yard. One of these days I'll get back to blogging about the Ravens, but right now there's not really much to blog about and I'm sick as a dog. I'd rather be lazy and post embed code.

1) Does Tom Brady get hyphy? Honestly, when I asked Marshawn whether or not Tom Brady gets hyphy, his "What!!?" response and fierce stare made me a little nervous. I had absolutely no idea what to expect next. None whatsoever.

2) Sticks, stones and Beast Mode: Marshawn gets picked on because of he doesn't care about proper grammar. He also doesn't care about getting picked on. He's ice cold like that.

3) Yardbarker rap? Go Hard in the Yard: Marshawn's friend Shaadie decided he wanted to record a Yardbarker rap, and when Beast Mode heard about it, he said he'd only do it if I wrote the hook. I might have already had one too many sips of sauce, which is probably why I promised to not only write the hook but also contribute 16 bars. Shaadie emailed me last night and he's already working on the beat. I've got 16 bars already in the bank, but who knows if they're any good. I think I'm in over my head.

"Beast Mode" grill... classic

I took this photo of Marshawn Lynch at the Yardbarker/Hooters party in Tempe, AZ. Marshawn has the most amazing grill I've ever seen. So what if I've only ever seen about one other grill. There's no denying the overwhelming awesomeness of this classic Beast Mode affair.

2007 NFL Draft: Buffalo Bills (3.92)

The wait for the selection of Stanford QB Trent Edwards is over. The quarterback who went 0-7 last year as a starter (and who also has injury concerns) was drafted by the Buffalo Bills. I understand that his supporting cast at Stanford was weak, but he had barely more than 1,000 yards passing all of last year, and still commentators gush over this guy's future. Particularly Ron Jaworski. Jaws is a very smart football guy, but I don't see the appeal of Edwards. And don't tell me he has great arm strength because, well, so does Kyle Boller.

2007 NFL Draft: Buffalo Bills (1.12)

I love the pick. Cal RB Marshawn Lynch in my opinion will be the best running back in this year's draft. And the Bills definitely need a running back after trading Willis McGahee to the Ravens. Plus, he has gold teeth, which will go over very well in blue-collar Buffalo.

I'm happy for the Bills. I grew up a Bills fan because Baltimore didn't have a team and both of my parents are from Buffalo. (Yes, I suffered through all four Super Bowl losses.) Plus, I live in San Francisco, so I like the Cal Bears. Marshawn Lynch is an exciting addition to the Bills, and hopefully the Bills can take down the Patriots. It would be nice to see a different team atop the overrated AFC East.
